This past Sunday I ventured out into the outfield seats of Comisky Park and did some comparison to the outfield seats in Wrigley.
First I want to compare what they call the sections. At Wrigley they call them "The Bleachers" and at Comisky
they call them "Outfield Boxes". Oh that sounds like fun, lets go sit in the outfield boxes... ummm no. Advantage
Wrigley.
Fans: Wrigley the average Bleacher visitor is between the ages of 20-35 and like to have fun. In the Outfield Boxes the
average visitor has a wide range, mostly your basic fan. Nothing special.
Advantage Wrigley
Food and Beverage and Bathrooms: Wrigley has a few vendors and one large counter type area to order food at and also a
few small vendor stands below the seats. Not a big selection but your basic stuff. Cant watch the game when ordering except
from the few monitors behind the counter. Only one bathroom that is below that stands and when crowded takes about 20 min
or so to use and get back to your seat. Comisky has a shit load of places to grab some grub which are all in view of the field
someway or another. Also has more than a few washrooms. Another bonus here is that you can walk around the whole stadium unlike
Wrigley.
Advantage: Comisky
Fans: Now this all depends on your demographic and what you like to do at a game. At Wrigley your fans are comparable
to a Frat party, which to me is a good time. Comisky has your basic baseball fan. Nothing too special.
Advantage: Wrigley
Chants and other events: At Wrigley you have your basic yelling at fans and other hoopla. But one thing that Wrigley does
have is the classic "Right Field/Left Field Sucks" chant. Comisky has your basic harrassing of players and thats
about it. Oh and a side note, Comisky doesnt like swearing either, found that out on Sunday. Told Konerko to move his "Fat
Ass" and everyone looked at me like I just threatened to kill someone.
Advantage: Wrigley.
So just by going over a few of the basic elements of both parks the final totals are in and Wrigley wins by a 4-1 count.
